About Us
Pets4Life Louisville is a 501(c)(3) volunteer-powered nonprofit dedicated to ensuring that every pet—and their family—has access to quality, preventative pet care.
Who We Are
Building on the trusted model of the Humane Society’s Pets for Life initiative, Pets4Life focuses on pet retention by offering a wide range of wellness resources and support. Our work is rooted in community and mutual aid, reflecting our commitment to keeping pets and their people together.
We proudly serve neighborhoods where veterinary resources are scarce, operating primarily in 8 underserved Louisville zip codes and expanding into additional areas throughout Greater Metro Louisville. From our pop-up vet clinics and mobile pet care hubs to our virtual PetCare Hub Navigator, we strive to meet pet families wherever they are.
Our Mission
Our mission is to increase pet retention, boost pet wellness, and reduce animal suffering by breaking down barriers to vet care in underserved communities. We believe that every pet deserves quality, affordable healthcare—whether through a neighborhood pop-up clinic, an informative outreach event, or by simply connecting families with vital pet resources.
Our Values
We believe strong communities are built when pets and their families can stay healthy and together. Guided by compassion, equity, and connection, we work hand-in-hand with neighbors to make quality pet care accessible for all. We’re committed to meeting people where they are and building trust through care, respect, and shared purpose.
Community & Partnerships
At our core, we’re about collaboration. As the original Louisville group focused on pet retention, we work side by side with community partners and mission groups. Our community-led approach transforms not just individual lives but entire neighborhoods, turning every interaction into a ripple of positive change.
By maintaining a strong focus on prevention, education, and accessible care, Pets4Life Louisville helps keep families together—and ensures that every pet has a fighting chance to live a healthy, happy life. Whether you’re a pet owner, a community partner, or a supporter of our mission, we welcome you to join our Pet Mutual Aid Hub and be part of the change.
PetSmart Incubator Grant
Pets4Life Louisville is honored to be selected as one of only eleven organizations—out of nearly 200 considered nationwide—to receive a PetSmart Charities Incubator Grant. This transformative program brings together a cohort of nonprofit animal welfare organizations focused on improving access to veterinary care in predominantly Black communities that have historically been underserved.
Our work will center on the 40210 zip code, including the Park Hill, California, and Algonquin neighborhoods, where we aim to make a lasting impact on the community’s pet population. By strengthening pet retention in this area, we help reduce strays and owner surrenders—ultimately easing the burden on local shelters and improving the well-being of pets across our city.
