Lost & Found Pets
If Your Pet Is Lost
- Report on the LMAS Lost & Found page.
- If microchipped, contact the microchip company and mark as missing/lost/stolen.
- Check LMAS stray photos regularly.
- Keep a current photo and ownership records (vet bills, adoption docs).
- Post flyers and share in local Facebook Lost/Found groups and neighborhood apps.
If You Find a Pet
Call LMAS for emergency response: 502-473-PETS (473-7787).

- Check collar tags for contact info.
- No tags? Ask a vet to scan for a microchip (usually free).
- Look around the area—owner may be searching.
- Report on the LMAS Lost & Found page.
- Make “Found Pet” signs and post on local socials.
Register in person at LMAS (3528 Newburg Rd) to begin the mandatory stray hold.
Can’t transport? Request pickup at 502-473-7387 (no cost).
Get a Free Pet Identification Tag
Ensure your pet wears an up-to-date ID tag. Request a free tag (donations welcome) via Snip N Save’s resources page.
Include two phone numbers and an email on the tag when possible.
How to Update Your Pet’s Microchip
- Moved or changed phone/email? Update your chip registry immediately.
- If you got your pet from another person, the previous owner must initiate the transfer.
- Have the chip number? Do a universal lookup to find the correct registry/company.

Low Cost Spay/Neuter
- Dogs: $80–$95 (under 8 yrs & < 50 lbs)

$30 spay/neuter for pit bull terriers (grant-funded). Call to schedule.
Free or Ultra-Low Cost Spay/Neuter
- Includes surgery, rabies, DAPP/FVRCP, bordetella, dewormer, microchip, nail trim, pet license.
- Voucher partners:
Financial assistance if you can’t afford S.N.I.P. Clinic rates.
Spay/neuter & wellness vouchers (when available). Leave a detailed message.
Sponsors cat spay/neuter when funding allows (owned & feral/stray).
Help with Community Cats
Referrals for unowned/feral cats, illness or injuries, and TNR support.

Domestic Abuse Safe Haven Program
KHS provides a safe, anonymous home for pets while survivors receive help and shelter.
Pets receive care and love until families can safely reunite.
If You Are Homeless and Need Help with Your Pet
Medical care or food assistance for pets of people experiencing homelessness.
Guidance on ESA protections and help with documentation through MDEF.
If You Need a Pet License
- $10 for altered pets
- $60 for unaltered pets (spay/neuter vouchers may be available)
Proof of rabies vaccination and spay/neuter status (if applicable).
If You Are Struggling to Keep Your Pet
Help with housing barriers, behavior, vet access, and pet supplies.
Keep copies of vet records, microchip info, and a recent photo of your pet.
If You Need to Rehome a Pet
Avoid giving pets to strangers or selling online without screening.
- Spay/neuter and update vaccines.
- Gather medical records, temperament notes, and good photos.
General Pet Advice
