If Your Pet Is Lost
Report & Search
  • Report on the LMAS Lost & Found page.
  • If microchipped, contact the microchip company and mark as missing/lost/stolen.
  • Check LMAS stray photos regularly.
Proof & Outreach
  • Keep a current photo and ownership records (vet bills, adoption docs).
  • Post flyers and share in local Facebook Lost/Found groups and neighborhood apps.
If You Find a Pet
A) Emergencies / Unsafe Animals

Call LMAS for emergency response: 502-473-PETS (473-7787).

B) Can’t Safely Capture / No Owner

Call LMAS assistance: (502) 473-7387.

C) Safe to Contain
  • Check collar tags for contact info.
  • No tags? Ask a vet to scan for a microchip (usually free).
  • Look around the area—owner may be searching.
  • Report on the LMAS Lost & Found page.
  • Make “Found Pet” signs and post on local socials.
D) Stray Fostering

Register in person at LMAS (3528 Newburg Rd) to begin the mandatory stray hold.

How to Update Your Pet’s Microchip
What to Update
  • Moved or changed phone/email? Update your chip registry immediately.
  • If you got your pet from another person, the previous owner must initiate the transfer.
  • Have the chip number? Do a universal lookup to find the correct registry/company.
